Outstanding Student of the Year
Every year the College of Liberal Arts asks each department to select their outstanding student(s) for that year- students who possess the passion and creativity for new discoveries and scholarship, students who demonstrate independence of thought and action in the pursuit of knowledge, and students who exemplify excellence.

“I can say confidently that I'm a much better writer now than when I started at UAF,
and I think that's just the amount of practice I've really gotten in here. It's really,
really shown in the way I can choose diction and really paint imagery. I would say
my time here has dutifully increased my abilities in the writing department. I guess
that's what means most to me—writing—so it's extra important.â€
