    ACEP student awarded $7,000 renewable energy scholarship

    Matteo Kuizenga, a junior mechanical engineering student at UAF and student assistant with ACEP, was awarded the Larry Bekkedahl Scholarship from the Renewable Energy Scholarship Foundation. Kuizenga was selected from a competitive pool of 90 applicants and is one of four recipients of the foundation’s highest annual award.

While incredibly content with the energy and stoke sustained throughout the winter months, we are gearing up for the warmth and extended sunlight that affords us all ample opportunities to venture outdoors and absorb some much-needed vitamin D.

The field systems support GPS, weather monitoring and ice-melt measurements in extreme Arctic conditions, highlighting how the Makerspace helps turn research ideas into working solutions for real-world science.

In the 20-plus years I've spent walking these halls as both a student and staff member, this seasonal "fever" remains my absolute favorite time of year.
