The CLA StoryWorks Field Intensive is a new pilot program designed to give students hands-on experience documenting real-world research through photography, video, writing and multimedia storytelling. This summer’s cohort will work alongside the UAF Anthropology Department’s Alaska Highway Archaeological Field School, documenting both the archaeological research itself and the lived experience of fieldwork in remote Alaska.
The program begins with an intensive workshop day in ÐßÐßÊÓƵ featuring guest speakers from journalism, photography, ethics, documentary storytelling and digital media before students head into the field for several days of embedded reporting and content creation.
The CLA StoryWorks Field Intensive was made possible through Transformative Experience funding supported through the Wood Center by the student matriculation fee. This funding allows UAF students to participate in innovative experiential learning opportunities outside traditional classroom settings.
The College of Liberal Arts staff and faculty extend their congratulations to the selected cohort and sincere thanks to the many students who applied for this inaugural experience.
