Week’s events: Bishop McCormick, diagnostic imaging, drones, marimba music

Ƶ Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of  July 10-16:

  • On Monday, July 11, the Tall Timbers interview series will feature a conversation with Bishop Otis McCormick, a longtime Ƶ community service leader. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will lead the discussion, which will be at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of UAF’s Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility.
  • On Tuesday, July 12, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature diagnostic radiologists Dr. Kier Fowler and Dr. Jordan Ross discussing “The Evolution of Diagnostic Imaging in Ƶ and What’s Around the Corner,” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, July 13, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Cathy Cahill, director of UAF’s Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration, on “Flying to the Future: Drones in Alaska,” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, July 14, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Serevende marimba ensemble at 7 p.m. at UAF’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

UAF’s Ƶ campuses are currently at “orange” level for COVID-19 precautions, which requires masking indoors, as well as outdoors when its not possible to stay 6 feet away from other people.
