Both UAF and UAS were admitted into The National Society of Leadership and Success in 2021, joining UAA who's hosted a chapter for many years. The NSLS is an international honors society with over 700 chapters and 1.7 million members, focusing on "Building Leaders Who Make a Better World." The UAF chapter of NSLS operates as a student club.

Apply for UAF eCampus scholarship

UAF eCampus is offering scholarships for UAF degree-seeking students taking eCampus courses. The maximum award is $500; any remaining costs are the responsibility of the student. Scholarships are evaluated based on thorough and thoughtful responses to the application questions as well as demonstrated need. The deadline to apply is Nov. 23, 2022.

Nominations open for 2023 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence

The University of Alaska Foundation Board of Directors is accepting nominations for the 2023 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. The prize, which includes a $20,000 award, is presented to an individual who demonstrates excellence in support of the University of Alaska. Any UA student, faculty, staff, alumni or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the mission of the University of Alaska system, UAA, UAF, or UAS is eligible to be nominated.

URSA announces Community Engaged Learning Award

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity congratulates undergraduate student Aihs Palmer, psychology major, who received this year's Community Engaged Learning Award. Aihs' project titled "Micro-pantries to Mitigate Inaccessibility to Anti-Hunger Resources," will collaborate with Ƶ organizations to address barriers to local food security resources.

Design contest for student artwork extended to Dec. 6

UAF eCampus is sponsoring a student design contest for a marketing campaign in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. All UAF students are invited to submit original artwork which will be featured on a printed banner in the N terminal of the airport. The chosen artist will receive a $1,000 tuition award.

Veterans Day appreciation and early registration event

Join the UAF Department of Military and Veteran Services on Nov. 11 in the Wood Center multilevel lounge for a Veterans Day appreciation event. Donuts, coffee and other beverages will be provided. Experts from many student services departments will be available to chat about any questions you have, help you get ready for the spring semester, schedule appointments with your academic advisor if you haven't already, and get your courses certified for military or veteran benefits. Small grants support needs of Alaska Native non-profits

The UAF Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy awarded grants up to $50,000 each to four regional non-profit organizations. The groups will use the funding to enhance capacity for resilience and climate adaptation in Alaska Native and rural communities.

IDEAs Awards inspire future innovators

Center ICE recently co-hosted an ICE Jam event with the UAF Honors College on the subject of ideation and to recognize the 2021-2022 winners of the Innovative Disclosures and Entrepreneurial Activities (IDEAs) awards. This in-person event was held at UAF’s Schaible Auditorium and was attended by about 80 first-year students, honors students, members of the local entrepreneurial community and IDEAs winners.
