Apply now for Toolik Field Station's 2023 early career TUNDRA award

Toolik Field Station invites students and early career researchers to apply for the Toolik Userdays for Naturally Developing Research Abilities, or TUNDRA, award for the 2023 field season. This award sponsors independent and original Arctic research projects with up to 10 days at Toolik Field Station. Toolik will provide award recipients with housing, meals, access to facilities and common-use equipment, science support, and transportation between ذكذكتسئµ and the field station.

UAF Chess Team surprises competition at 2023 Pan-American Chess Tournament

The UAF Chess Club organized a team of seven individuals to participate in the Pan-American Chess Tournament in Seattle. This tournament had over 80 teams participating, with over 360 college students. There were those like the members of the UAF team who had a passion for chess and loved to play, and there were also those who were ranked in the top 200 in the world.

Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.

Sign up for Responsible Conduct of Research training now

Responsible Conduct of Research training will be offered Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 2-5 p.m. via Zoom. The training is brought to you by the Office of Research Integrity. This particular workshop fulfills the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health requirements for formal RCR instruction. This is the only formal RCR training at UAF this semester.

Learn to strength train in 2023 with Nanook Recreation

Nanook Recreation offers a variety of strength training group fitness classes that are free with membership. Currently, offerings include intro to strength training a beginner-friendly class that goes over the basics of strength training machines, functional exercises, and free weights.

Save the date: Commencement 2023 is May 6

UAF's 101st commencement is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Carlson Center. There will be one ceremony this year. Students who are expecting to walk this year, should apply to graduate by Feb. 1, 2023. After that date the fee rises to $80; March 1 is the final deadline.

Solo Exhibit at the Alaska State Museum

The Alaska State Museum in Juneau is presenting a solo exhibition of Gail Priday’s paintings through Feb. 4, 2023. Priday, associate director of Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning and UAF art department alumna, received a 2022 Individual Artist Award from the Rasmuson Foundation. A portion of the award helped cover the cost of shipping 33 paintings from ذكذكتسئµ to Juneau.
